Very informative, good networking
SINGAPORE AIR FORCE
Useful in terms of finding out what’s happening in GIS in Asia-Pacific
Ashley Hayden, Defence Account Manager, MET OFFICE UK
Personally this was very valuable in meeting colleagues & better understanding the issues of GIS in Asia Pacific
John Day, Director of Defence Business Development, ESRI
It was a great pleasure and privilege to have been a keynote speaker at the 2008 GIS Asia Pacific Conference. In my field of expertise of networked simulation for team training, leading to enhanced levels of capability and operational readiness, the use of Geospatial Information Systems are important. I was also fascinated with the breadth of GIS topics discussed by the other speakers from many countries. It was a great networking opportunity.
Dr Peter Clark, Executive Level, DEFENCE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ORGANISATION, AUSTRALIA
The conference was excellent and met my objectives
Basyirun Bin Ismail, Lead Engineer, SYSTEM CONSULTANCY SERVICES SDN BHD

GIS Defence Asia-Pacific 2008 gathered defence organisations from across the Asia-Pacific region together in Singapore this September, to discuss the development of GIS within the military.

The primary focus for the GIS Defence Asia-Pacific 2008 team was to provide a platform for the sharing of experiences, networking, deals and partnerships in the region. A cutting-edge programme highlighted international case-studies and best practice examples of the developing use of GIS.

In addition to the main conference programme, the Interoperability Focus Day examined the various data sharing initiatives in the region and the ESRI Capability Focus Day delivered practical and valuable examples of applications in various domains.

The overall feedback has been excellent. From our post-show analysis, we look back with pride on some of the key facts uncovered:

  • 83 GIS professionals from the defence community visited GIS Defence Asia-Pacific 2008
  • 89% of attendees stated that they were either very satisfied or satisfied and found specific value in their participation
  • 82% of our attendees confirmed their intention to return to GIS Defence Asia-Pacific in 2009.

We would like to thank all our speakers, sponsors, delegates, media representatives and service providers for your invaluable contribution to the success of the 2008 event.

Key supporting organisations are already rebooking for 2009 as event partners, whilst attendees have asked to be kept fully informed of developments. Click here to receive full information about this event as it develops.
